My BIG Booboo
First broken bone
You are a rough and tumbling little girl. We have frequent falls with bruises to your legs, arms, and head. We have had some scraps, but your accident Monday night tops them all. You love to "ride". You ask everyone to "ride". "Ride" means for someone to get on their all fours and you ride like a horsey. Well, you were doing this Monday night, fell off the horsey, and broke your left arm. Of course, hysterics immediately hit in the Stewart house. Daddy, Mommy and Ma were all so scared that we jumped into the car without Mommy's wallet, your diaper bag, and you had no shoes or socks on! You, on the other hand, weren't that upset. You didn't scream or even cry a lot. Mommy was sure there was something wrong with your arm because you could see a really big knot and swelling, but you weren't acting like you were in too much pain. We took you to Nashville ER, and we saw Dr. Ashbrooks who fixed you right up. You were so brave while we were there. You toughed out the x-rays like a champ. The tech was even impressed. Dr. Ashbrooks put your arm in a fiberglass splint and sling until we could see the orthopedic doctor the next day. You broke both bones in your lower left arm. The doctor said the worst bone was at a 20 degree angle which would probably heal itself since you are so young. You slept great that night, and the next day we went to the orthopedic doctor. He told us that we would leave your arm in the fiberglass splint, because at your age it would straighten out and be back to perfect in 2-3 weeks. We were so glad you didn't have to have surgery or have the bone set. We go back to see the doctor in Febuary to make sure it is healing properly. You act like nothing is wrong now. You are still a rough and tumbling little girl. You want to do everything by yourself, and still want to tackle, climb, and "ride". We haven't let you "ride" yet, but I am sure you will soon! We love you, angel!
